THE HEART OF HOSPITALITY:
meet ABBY
From Movie Rentals to Restaurant Leadership

Abby first entered the workforce at 16, working at a movie rental store (back when those were still around!). At 17, she applied at Rube’s in Montour, not realizing it would shape her entire career. Over the years, she worked every position in the restaurant while also earning her bachelor’s degree in Organizational Leadership & Supervision from Buena Vista University. Managing a restaurant while submitting college papers just before the deadline? She made it happen.

Today, Abby leads Rube’s nationwide e-commerce business, managing shipping of our premium steaks, corporate gifting, and online sales at Rubessteaks.com. She also oversees Rube’s catering program, recently launching a new menu with a successful first event. And if you visit the restaurant, you’ll still see her there a few nights a week—because serving guests is something she still loves to do.

Why ABBY Loves Rube’s

“When I started at Rube’s, I had no idea I’d stay in the restaurant industry. But working here teaches you more than just restaurant skills—it teaches time management, teamwork, communication, and problem-solving. I’ve met some of my best friends here… and even my life partner. Providing small-town charm, whether in the restaurant or through our e-commerce business, is something I truly love.”

ABBY'S TOP PICKS

A Bacon-Wrapped Ribeye (seasoned with Skillet Potato Seasoning), paired with grilled asparagus and a glass of very dry red wine—the perfect match for a juicy, well-marbled steak.

Beyond the Restaurant

Abby is a homebody who enjoys DIY projects, PC gaming, and food adventures with her partner. When they have time off together, they seek out new restaurants and new flavors to try.
